The Textiles School Guide forms part of TDCA's wider School Guide Series, created to help applicants make more informed and individual decisions about where to study. Rather than presenting education as a hierarchy of "best" institutions, the series is built around the idea that the right school depends on the student — their specialism, methodology, ambitions, personality and future career direction.

Textiles is an especially complex field, spanning knit, weave, print, embroidery, constructed textiles, synthetics, material innovation and future fabrics. The guide helps applicants understand how different institutions approach those disciplines, what each course prioritises, the facilities and technical access available, and the type of creative practice each environment is likely to support.

The project combines detailed research, comparative analysis and editorial design to make the international education landscape easier to navigate. Course structure, teaching culture, application expectations, specialisms, location, industry connections and graduate pathways are considered together, allowing students to look beyond reputation and assess where they are most likely to develop successfully.

The guide is supported by TDCA's Institute Matcher, designed to take that personalisation further. Rather than directing students towards a league-table position, the matcher considers the individual — their priorities, preferred learning environment, creative interests and career ambitions — and helps identify institutions that genuinely align with them. Together, the guide and matcher create a more personalised route through education, helping applicants make choices based on fit, potential and future direction rather than prestige alone.
