NGAN LOK / SUMMER
I developed collections that appealed
to a wide range of customers across
China. The cuts and fabrications were
very carefully considered to accommodate
the huge variation in climate and
demographics nationwide.

Em, the proprietor, had exquisite taste. She was always willing to explore my vision and impart knowledge with her team. She was an Olympian turned pop star and now at the helm of a visionary fashion empire. Inevitably she became my muse. When I researched, I would create worlds around her, expanding upon different facets of her life. Her personality set the tone for the work. Her reaction to our weekly presentations would inspire my next design development. It was a beautiful symbiotic process that left both Em and I feeling a sense of fulfilment.
What Em had created in Shenzhen was an atelier system for the TTT line that simultaneously optimised the cutting edge technologies China is well known for with the Parisian atelier craft I was more familiar with. This enabled a deeper handle of the collections as it developed through the various stages. By the time we were looking at a showroom full of samples, we were confident that every stage had undergone rigorous scrutiny. As a result, it felt effortless to sustain the voice for each collection from conception to showroom.
